Who wouldn’t want to go thrift shopping in Paris, France, the fashion capital of the world? Well, Anna Barr has done just that, and she’s ready to give us the scoop on Thrift Style Living With LaCheryl B. Cillie.
Barr, a resident of Paris, is the fashion and features editor for the online magazine Eclectic Society, and she regularly visits some of the best secondhand stores in the city.
Parisian thrifters take fashion very seriously and believe that quality is more important than quantity, she says. Therefore, shoppers in Paris tend to take their time looking through merchandise to find the perfect item to add to their wardrobe, whether it's a 1950s, a-line skirt, funky t-shirt, couture dress or designer handbag.
Barr says that at one Paris thrift store she managed to snag a $5,000 vintage, Chanel suit for just $400!
Besides the thrift stores, Paris also is known for its flea markets. The largest is the Saint-Ouen flea market, which has more than 2,500 stalls with vendors selling everything from vintage clothes, antique furniture, decorative housewares, paintings and prints to used books and old records.
