The WAKA segment was all about my upcoming Summer/Back to School Thrifting Tour, which is on Saturday, Aug. 3! I wanted to show the audience how thrifting can save them big bucks on clothing and other back-to-school items. Everything I brought with me to the television station that day was purchased at thrift stores or consignment shops for under $20.
I arrived at WAKA at 11:30 a.m. and a producer immediately escorted me to the green room. I thought it was so funny that their green room was actually green!
When it came time for me to set up my items, a producer took me into the studio. I wasn’t really nervous because I had already done so many television interviews, but I was excited!
The host was WAKA’s Jamie Langley, and during the live segment, I showed her a pair of $155 designer blue jeans that I managed to snap up at a thrift store for only $19.96.
I showed her a pretty vest by Chanel that I brought with me when I appeared on ABC 33/40 last December. I bought it for just $4.99. Jamie was shocked by that price.
I had a cute, off-white and camel Dooney & Bourke chain handbag that I thrifted for just $16!
And, it was brand new.
I also showed off a pair of men’s shoes made of Italian leather that cost $19.96 and a silk tie that was just a buck at the thrift store. I also held up a pair of sandals by MBT that cost around $200 at retail stores. I purchased them at a thrift store for just $9.99.
I also brought along a package of twin, fitted bed sheets that were just $3.95 and a $2 package of ink jet resume paper that had 250 sheets.
Jamie then asked me about my upcoming tour.
The most important thing people should know is that this is not just any thrift shopping trip. I’m going to be there the whole time as we go from store to store, offering thrift shopping tips and helping people to recognize items of value. And, a delicious box lunch is included on the tour as well!
There are only a few tickets left for the tour. Hurry and click here to find out how to get yours.
After the interview, I had a lot well wishers, including my little sis, on my Facebook page telling me how much they liked the segment. My sis even took pictures of me on television with her camera phone.
So nice! Thanks, Sis.
