My Destination Thrift Shopping Adventure in Alabaster and Decatur, Ala.

Hey, guys! This past weekend I and a friend of mine from college hit the road and went destination thrifting in Alabaster and Decatur, Alabama. We went to six thrift stores and charity resale shops over two days. Whew!

See this shirt?

Let me tell you about the shirt. My friend’s husband (I’ll call him Bob.) has always been skeptical about shopping at secondhand stores.
I used to feel that way about secondhand stores myself, but, that’s another story.

Any old how, before my friend and I left to go destination thrifting, Bob issued this challenge: Find a set of golf clubs at a thrift store, and he would play golf with a friend of his, who I’m calling Mr. X.

Bob has a friendly rivalry going with Mr. X . These two middle aged men are always trying to beat each other at some game, whether it’s ping pong or running track. Bob, however, always wins. But now Mr. X has challenged Bob to a game of golf.  Mr. X,
I hear, is good at golf.

Bob was betting that we wouldn't find anything golf related at a thrift store. Well, my friend and I searched and searched. We found no clubs.

But, we did snag this red and black golf shirt at the Alabama Thrift Store in Decatur for just $4.88.

When we showed Bob the shirt, my friend said, “Hey, we’re trying to get you ready for golf.” Although she and I failed the challenge, Bob said that he would play golf with Mr. X anyway.

By the way, I found this designer Dolce & Gabbana silk dress at a thrift store in Alabaster. The original price was $1,495. It was just $59 at the thrift store.

I also found a cute pair of Cole Haan slingback sandals. The original price was $100. I paid $6.88.

What designer fashions have you purchased at thrift stores lately?
